The department facilities and equipment include two lecture halls for 96 and 50 seats, specialized laboratories “Locomotives. General course”, “Locomotive power-producing units”, “Locomotive electric transmission”, “Technology of diesel locomotive repair”, “Locomotive electric equipment”, “Fuel, lubricants and cooling liquids”, computer class. Lecture halls and three laboratories are equipped with multimedia equipment. The active training ground of railway equipment has a full-scale model of a shunting diesel locomotive of the ТЭМ 2 series.
The department laboratories have relevant training equipment, operating diesel-generator set (picture 1), training complex for teaching locomotive drivers to drive freight trains with a locomotive 2TE25A series (picture 2, 3), natural samples of assemblies, units and parts of various diesel locomotives, measuring devices, computer equipment. The educational process is sufficiently provided with textbooks and study manuals for carrying out laboratory-based, practical, as well as course works and projects, graduate theses. The teaching staff prepared textbooks “Locomotive power-producing units”, “Reliability of locomotives” and “Technology of locomotive maintenance and repair”.
