
OSTU has extensive experience in cooperation with Chinese universities in the field of education and since 2018 has been actively involved in work with three Chinese universities on joint educational programs. This year the university is expanding cooperation by signing an agreement with another university.
On April 27 the work of the section "Electric Railways Rolling Stock" of the VIII All-Russian Student Scientific Conference with International Participation "Student: Science, Profession, Life" started within the student scientific forum “Dorogu Molodym” (Make way for the Youth).
The Russian Foundation for basic research has summed up the results of the competition for the best basic research projects carried out by young scientists studying in postgraduate education. A total of 1,540 participants were supported, including Maria Kuznetsova, a postgraduate student at the Department of electric railways rolling stock at Omsk State Transport University (her research supervisor – doctor of technical sciences, Professor Vasily Cheremisin).
The independent news agency "Interfax" has published a national ranking of universities in 2020. According to the data obtained, Omsk State Transport University ranks 150th (out of 337 universities in Russia). Among the nine railway universities in the country, OSTU is in fourth place, behind Russian University of Transport (MIIT), Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS) and Rostov State Transport University (RSTU).
On July 15, the Omsk city council decided by a majority vote to award the title of «Honorary citizen Omsk» to Ilham Islamovich Galiev, the President of Omsk State Transport University.
OSTU started issuing diplomas to graduates of 2020. This year's celebrations have been adjusted due to the pandemic. The diplomas were delivered according to a schedule, with the necessary safety measures.
In 2019-2020 academic year, the students of Omsk State Transport University successfully participated in Open international student Internet Olympiads. Students of Omsk State Transport University (OSTU) have received gold medals in the discipline «Physics». Elaman Iskakov and Aylana Abitaeva (group 28C). In the same discipline Natalya Lamkova won a bronze medal (group 28B).
During the peak spread of coronavirus infection Omsk has become one of the islands of hope, sheltering sick people that came from the regions without enough resources to fight the disease.
