The departments of the Institute of Ground Transport Systems are equipped with the modern facilities. The testing site of the working railway rolling stock houses more than ten facilities that are used in education of the students.
The Institute is notable for its solid scientific school, as well as facilities and resources. Our scientists have developed an unrivalled complex of repairing equipment that is used in all railway depots across the country. Our alumni include the heads of the federal ministries.
The Institute was created on the basis of Mechanical and Heat Power Engineering faculties on February 11, 2019. The history of the Institute begins with the department “Steam locomotives” from the Tomsk Technological Institute (TTI), which was founded back in 1900. The department “Steam locomotives” under the leadership of Professor N.I. Kartashov was the basis for the mechanical faculty (MF). In 1991 OmIIT (former name of OSTU) has launched full-time education of heat power engineers on the Faculty of Electric Transport. The heat power engineering faculty was founded in December 1996 on the basis of the Mechanical Faculty and the Electric Transport Faculty.
